Lobsang Khokze

I was born in Kham, Tibet. My great grandfather, who was Mongolian, was well known as a doctor of Tibetan Medicine. He was called Dr Red Arm after a birthmark on his right arm. Three cousins of my mother were also traditional doctors and monks and so was one of my brothers. I was very interested in Tibetan Medicine when I was young and would go with other villagers to pick herbs from the valleys and mountains for our local doctor.

As an adult, I came to Australia and was offered a place on a course taught in Melbourne by Dr Nida Chenagtsang, who is Medical Director of the International Academy for Traditional Tibetan Medicine (IATTM). I have since learnt from him and from his students  Karen Stone and Jenny McAuliffe.

Tibetan Massage – Ku Nye – is one of Traditional Tibetan Medicine’s unique external therapies. I have been practising Ku Nye since 2011. As a Tibetan it makes me happy to be able to offer something so valuable back to the West.
