I am a professional member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) and registered to practise acupuncture with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). My qualification is the Licentiate in Acupuncture (LicAc), which is a British qualification. I have been in practice since I graduated in 1995.
My needling technique is gentle. Acupuncture needles are very fine and I use the finest grade. They are so fine that if the needle misses the acupuncture point, no sensation will be felt. When the needle reaches the acupuncture point and the energy is touched a small sensation will be felt. It may be like the feeling of a bruise being pressed, it may be a small nip, or it may be a tingle or a feeling that something has happened.
Usually I will use about five or six points in a treatment, most of which will be needled on both left and right sides of the body. Sometimes more points or fewer points will be needed. I will almost always use points on the arms or the legs. I might also use points on the back, the torso and on the head. If you don’t want me to needle a particular area for any reason, we will find a way round it.
I treat one person at a time and remain in the room with you throughout the treatment.
I would expect to see a new client once a week for six to eight weeks and then gradually we will space treatments out over a longer period of time. This enables a foundation to be built up so that fewer treatments are needed in the long term to maintain equilibrium.
I see clients by appointment only. If you would like to talk to me or meet me before booking in, you are welcome to get in touch by phone or email. To make an appointment or ask any questions please telephone or use the contact form on this website. If I am with a client when you phone I will call you back as soon as I can.
The initial consultation takes around two hours and is $175. During this consultation I will take a full case history and do the first treatment.
Subsequent consultations take up to one hour and are $120.
All Australian health funds will give you a rebate if you have private health insurance that covers acupuncture.
Please let me know if you need to change an appointment by 5.00pm the day before, otherwise the full fee would be charged. This is so I can offer the appointment time to another client who may need it. (If you need to cancel for reasons related to covid-19, no fee would be charged.)
